The impacts of George Washington were some of the most influential in their time. George Washington started as commander in chief in the Revolutionary War, and was declared a hero by the American people for his efforts that led the country to victory, and more importantly, freedom. Proving to be a great leader, the people chose Washington to be the first president of the United States. George Washington oversaw the drafting of the U.S. constitution, and set many monumental laws that helped get the country on its feet. George Washington was asked to continue serving as president after two terms, but respectfully declined as he wished for more of a democracy in this new country.
